At just 15, Holly Warn has achieved what many can only dream of: a spot on the Australian Paralympic swim team. Her journey from local swim meets to the world stage is a testament to her hard work and dedication.
Diagnosed with cerebral palsy at five months old, Holly faced early challenges that impacted her motor skills. Yet, she found solace in swimming, where she felt truly free. "When my head is in the water, no one is judging me—it’s freedom," Holly shares.
Holly began hydrotherapy at a young age, which was crucial in nurturing her love for swimming and competition. Her father, John, recalls, "By 18 months old, she was swimming unaided. It gave her incredible confidence and joy."
Holly’s commitment to the sport is evident in her intense training regimen, spending 16 hours a week in the pool. Her perseverance paid off as she qualified for the S7 classification in the 100m and 400m freestyle events for the Paralympics.
As she prepares to compete in Paris, Holly’s advice to others is inspiring: "Don’t listen to those who say you can’t. You must believe in yourself before others can. Chase your dreams."
Holly’s story is not just about personal triumph but also about inspiring others. Meeting her role model, Paralympic swimmer Madison Elliot, was a memorable highlight: “It was pretty cool to meet Madison twice,” Holly says.
With her family and supporters cheering her on, Holly is ready to make a splash at the Paralympics. Her journey embodies the power of determination and the support of those who believe in her, and we can’t wait to see her shine on the world stage.
Adventure Caretakers wishes Holly the best in the upcoming her races! Good luck and shoot for goal!
